Bungee Jumping

Strapping some elastic around your ankles and jumping off something may not be everyone’s cup of tea but for any extreme adrenaline junkie a bungee jump is certainly one gift experience you won’t forget!

Bungee jumping isn’t for the faint hearted and certainly isn’t for anyone who is scared of heights. It defies all your human instincts to jump off something very high up and hurtle towards earth in a free fall while you wait for what is in effect an oversized elastic band to bring you to a halt and bounce you back up!

Despite being an extreme sport, Bungee jumping is actually a relatively safe activity to do, although there are certain risks (although not that frequent) of injury such as dislocations, rope burn, back injuries and eye trauma. There has only ever been a handful of people die from bungee jumping since it started back in 1979!

There are Bungee Jumps available throughout the UK at selected locations. Many take place from the top of cranes that have their arms extended to 160ft and beyond, there is even some that can go as high at 300ft if you are feeling really brave!

For those who are after something even more different you can also do indoor bungee jumping at Magma in Sheffield, one of the two indoor bungee jump in the world!

The cost of a bungee jump starts at around £45 and depending on where you jump and if you are going to one that is extra high the price can vary.

Bungee jumping can be done all over the world, there is the option of the world famous bungee jump that James Bond did in Goldeneye at the Verzasca Dam above Lake Vogorno in Switzerland that is 220m up where you fall for 7.5 seconds at 160 km/h.

So, if you think you are brave enough to take the leap then book a bungee jump, it’ll certainly be something you can brag about to friends and family!
